Continued discussion on the City of Fairfax 2035 Comprehensive Plan Review
1:21:44Paul Nabtistaffcity this was based on requests from city council in particular to be proactive when we're looking at changes in technology changes in business types and trying to be accommodating so we had that action listed in the commercial corridors and activities section planning commission recommended that we look at moving that to the economic vitality section and so in looking at structure of the plan there was an area where that made a lot of sense the entire goal was shown in your staff reports you can see where this fits but that's what we're we're showing this now there are no changes to the language from what you saw for this action on june 24. and then the other action related to the parks and recreation strategic master plan as you may recall this is something
that is going to be updated very soon the process is actually beginning now and the concern from the Planning Commission was instead of directing Parks and Recreation to update the strategic master plan that we should focus more on our role which is to implement those recommendations and so we changed the language here before we stop to discuss these two I did want to point out one of the things we talked about during our discussion in June was whether or not we should reference the Parks and Recreation strategic master plan in any action where that action is derived at least partially from the existing plan and staff supported that the planning commission at least a couple of commissioners commented that
that was a good idea as we went through and looked at it we realized that there are a lot of actions that reference it and this is just a list of those actions or that or the action is derived at least partially from the strategic master plan and so we've referenced it to be adding a lot of language here and these are just those actions that relate to it from the parks and recreation guiding principle there might be others and transportation and neighborhoods and those kind of things to talk about trails so our preference is to just stick with the language from the action and let that the others sit as they are so I'll stop there before we get into our mixed-use place type to see if there any thoughts on these two actions
