Dr. WrightstaffThank You Vice Chair Hickman and I know that you know some of our families might be exiting at this time and that's okay or you're welcome to stay in here the next presentation but we're gonna hear from the Fairfax County Public Schools team, Chief Financial Officer Lee Burden and Executive Budget Director Matthew Norton to talk about the annual tuition bill that we received that's a part of the school services agreement. So with that I'll turn it over to Mr. Norton for the presentation.

Matthew Nortonstaffthat the county receives, but the city and the city school board do not receive. And so the extent they're defraying operational costs of the county school board, right? So revenue credits where FCPS receives money, but the city school system does not, I'll give you some examples. There's funding that comes from the state for the governor's school, Thomas Jefferson. There's regional tuition funding that comes for special education. There's homebound funding. There's funding related to the national school lunch program. And then there are also grants and self-supporting programs where funding comes in to FCPS, funding line item for the city and so what we end up doing is those credits that we then apply to the city which are part of the school services agreement

Yeah, so number one, a little bit unintuitively, other operational costs are where special education costs fall. And so we don't actually break special education costs into elementary, middle, or high. And again, that's the way the school services agreement is. I would say that other operational costs include just a variety of other activities. So like the entire financial services staff would be something that is a cost of the school system that is included in all that. Our entire HR function, our entire instructional services function of writing curriculum and things like that. I mean, I could go on and on, I guess, but those are some examples.

Kristina CecereThank you for that. And then I have one other question. I'm curious. Beyond our school services agreement, is there anything that's within the last 20 plus years that you all have had without any modifications? Any agreements, contracts, et cetera? Or is this pretty much the only agreements in the books? an email question too for further research.
