Consideration of a resolution authorizing the City Manager to sign the standard project agreement with NVTA for NVTA 70% funding for Blenheim Boulevard Multimodal Improvements (SPA 2020-48-2)
1:00:55Paul Nabdistaffpolicy review. So the goal here is to look at those policies and plans that have been developed by the city since the smaller plans were adopted and make sure that they are incorporated properly into the smaller plans. So some examples are shown here. There will certainly be others. One example is the urban forest master plan. This was adopted in December and includes some COMPONENTS OF THIS PLAN INCLUDE RECOMMENDATIONS RELATED TO POLICIES REGARDED TREES AND OTHER TYPES OF RECOMMENDATIONS RELATED TO PHYSICAL SPACE, WHICH IS WHAT THE SMALLING PLANS REALLY RELY ON. SO THAT INCLUDES THINGS SUCH AS GREEN SPACE ACCESS, WHAT THEY CALL A 330-300 ANALYSIS WHERE WE LOOK AT MAKING SURE THAT EVERY FACILITY AND RESIDENCE HAS THREE TREES WITHIN VIEW OF THEM, THAT WE
CONSISTENT ACROSS THE BOARD BUT THAT WOULD BE DISTRIBUTED MORE EVENLY AMONG PROPERTY OWNERS. AS A PRECURSOR TO THE URBAN FOREST MASTER PLAN A CITYWIDE TREE CANOPY analysis was conducted in 2023. So we see this as a resource that can help us identify locations, specific locations where there might be important trees or stands of trees that should be considered for protection. And smaller plans are a good tool for doing this because we can physically change the plans to move around these areas when they're identified, which is much more difficult to do on a citywide code-based basis. And so we would use this as an initial resource. We would go about certainly and field check and make sure anything that we're suggesting be preserved is actually in good condition and can be preserved.
