0:25Mark LightWhen we look specifically at Fairfax City, when we did the community survey, there's the results there, and you'll notice that the city did very, very well. A lot of areas, but one of the areas that had the most concern between about 45% total of either they were neutral or they were dissatisfied with about 45%. And that was the accessibility of affordable housing, quality housing. so I think that and those are people that are living in the city that probably took the survey where a lot of the people that have that issue don't live in the city and probably didn't take the survey so even the people within the city understand that you know affordable housing is an issue now in many cases people look at affordable housing differently than the way we may look at
thousand the end and that's all we have and we're not going to have any more or do we establish a trust fund where there's a recurring revenue source that We determine what are those things that will assist us in affordable housing and when you look there at identified uses And it looks like it based on the affordable or the comprehensive plan the affordable housing strategic plan And our survey and community surveys that affordable housing development preservation and rehabilitation and rent and mortgage relief would be great things to use for future if we have that recurrence dollar amount if we only had the five hundred and forty two thousand does it make sense to give that five hundred forty two thousand in one one or two larger pots rather than trying to
Jamie ErgasstaffThank you. Yeah, there was, as part of the Affordable Housing Strategic Plan, the development of that plan, housing survey that was completed this past spring that had 678 responses. So there's a dashboard actually up on the city's website now to kind of dissect what are the responses, what are people thinking, what's the affordability issues that they're mentioning. So it's a little bit deeper than perhaps the questions on the broader community survey. But I think hearing from people and understanding what they're looking for and what's needed in the community certainly needs to be at the forefront of the process. Excellent.
