Michael DeMarcopublic commentgood evening mayor reed and members of the city council my name is michael de marco 10212 scout drive fairfax and i had the privilege of serving on the original green acres feasibility study committee which was the genesis of this Willard Sherwood Community Center project. That committee began its work nearly a decade ago with a clear mission to evaluate how best to meet the community's recreation, health, and social needs for the next generations. We reviewed many locations for a new community center, looking for a site that was accessible, centrally located, and connected by public transit. One of the six site recommendations to council was, in fact, the Willard location. However, we didn't believe the site would be available because the county was actively using it for critical health care programs.
