Consideration for remote participation by Councilmember Hall
0:56Speaker 10Our first item is a presentation by ETC Institute on the community survey. I'm going to recognize Matthew Kaiser, our communications director for the discussion.
Matthew KaiserstaffWell good evening mayor, council members. We're excited to be back here before you. If you remember we were here this spring to kick off the city's very first statistically valid community survey which we conducted over the summer. I'm joined by the vice president Director of Community Research from the ETC Institute. That's the firm who conducted the survey on behalf of the city. And he is going to walk through ETC's findings report, which includes some identified priorities and recommendations for you to consider as we roll into budget season. So with that, this is Jason Murado. Thank you.
Jason Muradothroughout the city. And that's our standard methodology for these statistically-avowed community surveys, is a random sample by mail and online. Our goal is to receive at least 400 completed surveys, which is a good sample size for a We had a good response to the survey, and we ended up with 425 completed surveys. The results of the 425 surveys at the 95% level of confidence has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.7%. Essentially, that means that if we conducted this survey the same way 100 times, 95 times the results would be plus or minus 4.7% from what we're reporting. So the results are never perfect even for a statistically valid survey, but the margin of error is small. So here we have a map of the city. The red dots are households that completed a survey.
Anthony AmosYeah that's that's interesting I would be curious on what the BAR stance is on it I know one of the things ironically that was brought up during our discussion on the community survey was a concern with blighted or abandoned in properties which tend to be older. So that could be something worth considering. I don't know if for this round, but I think that should be explored more. I would be interested in what BAR thinks on that.
