Discussion on the Proposed FY26 Budget

0:13

Dave SummersstaffCurrently, the urban forestry program is actually funded by the stormwater utility. Satoshi Ito is here. If you have any questions about how the urban forestry program is funded by the stormwater utility, the enterprise funds, such as the stormwater utility, the waste water utility, the Q-Bus transit, of the budget discussions. They pay for the stormwater utility and the wastewater utility are

For the wastewater utility, the reason there's an increase is because of our contribution to the Nomen coal plant. So that's basically nothing. We're doing extra maintenance of our wastewater system. The stormwater utility, and Satoshi will talk about this, is one of the things that is part of the stormwater utility is to make neighborhood drainage improvement projects. And if we did not get that increase, we would not be able to fund neighborhood drainage improvement projects. We would just be able to meet the minimum compliance and maintenance requirements. And I'll turn it over to Satoshi.

JC MartinezstaffWe did collaborate with Satoshi in reviewing the Stormwater Utility Fund. We actually reduced the proposed amount by $950,000, if not mistaken, from what was originally proposed to ensure that it did not go over capacity when it came to what the revenues, what we were projecting them to be bringing in and ensured some type of minimal fund balance as well.
