Discussion and Review of the Two-Year Transportation Program

26:26

Wendy SanfordstaffAGAIN, THERE IS ALREADY A HIGH LEVEL OF SUPPORT FROM RESIDENTS ON THESE STREETS. AND THERE IS HIGH CONNECTIVITY AND TRAFFIC SAFETY BENEFITS. So this is a project that we would prepare a concept plan for and submit it for funding. So again, this really just summarizes the projects that are at the starting line. In terms of outreach, we developed an interactive map through our Engage Fairfax tool for residents to view the projects, make comments, propose other ideas. We had a postcard and you can see the front and the back at the bottom of the screen here. We put this out in city scene. And what's really nice about the engage page is that even though we only received nine comments, we can see that there were a thousand visits to the page.

Chloe RitterstaffOkay. So that's kind of the preview of the concept. And we do typically like to come and give you all a preview before we take it to the public. So that's what we're doing tonight. And so the public engagement that we've done for this, like I said, we have an open house scheduled for tomorrow evening. And then as part of that we're also going to put the materials on Engage Fairfax. And we've made a substantial effort because this is a really critical decision point on our roadmap. We've made a substantial effort to get the word out. We have put out A-frame signs in the neighborhood. We've mailed letters to I believe all of the residents in Cobdale. I think about 500 houses. It's also just gone out on our general social media.

It was in City Scene. So we really want to make sure that everybody has an opportunity to weigh in at this point. to some earlier points that were made of trying to make sure people are aware at this decision point. It's never going to be perfect, but hopefully we're getting the word out. And then, like I said, we'll come back to share that public feedback with you. Right now we're proposing to come back on April 1st to share whatever feedback we hear at the open house and over the next couple of weeks on Engage Fairfax. And then there's going to be a decision point for you all of whether we want to move forward with this project based on the feedback that we hear. And if we do decide to move forward with this project, we tentatively have a plan to look at revenue sharing applications,

Nick SusiAnd again, this is about the fourth iteration of different outreach and engagement we've had with the community. But in the time that passed between September and November of last year, we had almost 400 visitors to this project site on the Engage Fairfax site. we also held an open house in October we had 18 people attend that several of which provided comments and or comment forms the comments I believe we've provided a summary with the package for this this meeting and really what I'll say is there's there was good feedback in the comments that we got about the new signal whether it has changed or hasn't changed people's daily routine and commute there are were six folks who provided comments that were not in favor
