Consideration of the July 2, 2024 Special Meeting minutes

27:47

Lee Quillare a couple elements in the language that asked us to strengthen a few things such as you know can you say prioritize instead of encourage the focus and prior toward prioritizing infrastructure improvements in the area and then the the this buffer that is between our shared youth path and a number a number of areas and then how that works with the main roadway those were minor elements that can be definitely picked up and were picked up as you remember from the goal when we started this thing in this effort with the community and with you all I have to say that I've been doing small area plans for a long time and I grew up in Fairfax County and Fairfax was part of my life both before after when I came and lived in Reston for a few years.

Kate Doyle FeingoldHow does development in other areas, when are we close to that point in other small area plans or the scout, how does that factor in? Because that's pretty recent. Is that bringing us to the 950, or is this 950 excluding the scout, or how does that work?

Catherine Readokay so it before we go to the public hearing out the observation I will make about the small area plans they've been very helpful to the city I think it has provided developers some guidance to understand what the city is looking for it is not something that is literally engraved in stone but for scale and experience I think if we look at Fairfax corner and we look at the mosaic and we look at what was done in both of those places over a number of years, starting with development and setting aside spaces for future development and the fact that the marketplace tends to dictate what is going to go there because people build things to make money. So we can project and we can theorize about what will go in these spaces.
