0:25Mark Lighthave a rent that is affordable and can help out somebody who already has that property and then also help somebody that needs affordable housing so this is one of the items we would like some feedback from City Council on tonight the second one that we have is a housing trust fund the city technically does not have a housing trust fund uh for we have a fund that we call a housing trust fund but if you look this has been recommended numerous times in 2013. it was recommended the city have a housing trust fund in 2018. the mayor's advisory committee on housing report recommended housing trust fund 2023 2025 and the affordable housing strategic plan was there and the comprehensive plan each one of those
thousand the end and that's all we have and we're not going to have any more or do we establish a trust fund where there's a recurring revenue source that We determine what are those things that will assist us in affordable housing and when you look there at identified uses And it looks like it based on the affordable or the comprehensive plan the affordable housing strategic plan And our survey and community surveys that affordable housing development preservation and rehabilitation and rent and mortgage relief would be great things to use for future if we have that recurrence dollar amount if we only had the five hundred and forty two thousand does it make sense to give that five hundred forty two thousand in one one or two larger pots rather than trying to
Jamie ErgasstaffAnd one of the actions that was recommended in the affordable housing strategic plan targets and what I'm hearing you saying is develop specific targets in the context of the definitions.
Thank you. Yeah, there was, as part of the Affordable Housing Strategic Plan, the development of that plan, housing survey that was completed this past spring that had 678 responses. So there's a dashboard actually up on the city's website now to kind of dissect what are the responses, what are people thinking, what's the affordability issues that they're mentioning. So it's a little bit deeper than perhaps the questions on the broader community survey. But I think hearing from people and understanding what they're looking for and what's needed in the community certainly needs to be at the forefront of the process. Excellent.
Billy Batesthank you for the presentation I certainly look forward to supporting the adoption of the urban forest plan master plan and and I certainly also agree that making sure that these plans that efforts are made to implement these plans is important and that goes for this as well as the affordable housing strategic plan, the comprehensive plan, city bike plan, what have you. Each of those also have certain aspects that are relevant to sustainability and even to the urban forest and I think it's important to make sure that we're coordinating efforts in terms of those multiple plans and how they kind of overlap. And I also think it's important to point out that certainly forecasts and projections would also be worth exploring if possible.
