- Urban Agriculturein progress
At the July 22, 2025 City Council meeting, Councilmember Bates had no comments when recognized after a colleague's remarks on urban agriculture and yardins.

At the April 22, 2025 meeting, Council Member Bates stated explicitly that any cuts to the Nonprofit Grant Program were a 'no-go' for him, citing the federal-level actions and conversations affecting nonprofits as a reason this was not the time to consider reductions.
