Consideration of the October 28, 2025 Regular Meeting minutes
1:10:28Melanie Zippstaffyou melissa good evening mayor and council um as she said as melissa said uh there is no council action tonight we're just looking for feedback from the public on any changes or additions that they would like added to our legislative program and then hopefully get some concurrence from Council on priority order of items for the one page that goes with our program okay so to start off you can go to the next slide we are halfway through our legislative cycle the beginning of our legislative cycle we're on November 18th our public hearing December 1st is when all draft legislation needs to be pre-filed I will get to it in a later slide but our charter amendments have gone down to the Department of Legislative Services to
affordable housing next slide anti-rent gouging stormwater local assistance funding state aid for local HB 599 and unfunded mandates and I know I went really fast but what we staff are looking for our council's list of priorities in priority order if you would like to put them in priority order or if you want them alphabetical yeah and next slide is just our calendar again for the legislative program which starts january 14th so if we want to go back to the previous yep that is all i have i'm here to answer any questions and take any priority items
if I can make a recommendation the two items on the bottom the HB 599 and unfunded mandates are two things we've had on our legislative program for forever HB 599 has been in forever and And we have an entire two pages, I think, about unfunded mandates and local authority, that kind of stuff. If you were looking for some to take off the one-pager, I would probably recommend those two because they're very, well, HB 599 is not very general, but the unfunded mandate is very general.
Catherine ReadWell, all right. I will close the public hearing. There is no council action tonight. The city council will take action to consider the city of Fairfax 2026 legislative program on December 9th, 2025.
Melanie Zippstaffso we'll go over December 2nd and December 9 for December 2nd work session we have presentation and update from the housing and Healthy Communities Advisory Board, and then an update on the Urban Forest Master Plan project, and we will remove the legislative program from that agenda. As of right now, that's all we have from staff for that agenda.
