Discussion on the Proposed FY26 Budget

0:13

Anthony Amoslast question and yes please do one more time and last question I wanted to know if we have an update on the PPA for the fire station and or potential for PPA with schools in the school bond

JC MartinezstaffI can answer the information for the fire station that will be presented to council I think at the April 11th work session if I'm not mistaken the Public Works of Fire Department and Procurement and Finance will be present and do a full evaluation and update of where we are with Fire Station 3 in that we did get one response back from our informal request for information and we will be providing that information to council at that time.

Assistant Chief SeitzstaffYes, sir. So Assistant Chief Seitz, I'm responsible for the Office of Security Administration. So Chief O'Neill and Chief Dunstan are doing our accreditation, as you guys have been made aware, that we got reaccredited again. so anyway I am going to fill in for him and Chief Dunstan so to answer your question I think you've learned this evening that we did not focus a lot on the capital project piece not in the fire department either even though we have a fire station that's part of the capital improvement process we have a ladder truck that's in capital improvement and a couple other items we haven't really focused on that as well. In the 10% reduction, as requested, the only place that we have to cut is personnel.

Our operating, to keep the fire stations open and to keep operations running for fire and EMS, that's essentially a 12% of our budget that we do just to do that alone. So the rest of the places that we have to cut is in personnel, and that's what Chief O'Neill proposes, as an attempt to get to that 10%. Obviously, I think, as JC mentioned, that there's an upcoming presentation on the fire station and where we're at on that as far as the process. So that's sort of where Chief Vanille and the command staff have looked at at this point.

Stacy Halland thank you for coming in and this might be a joint Public Works fire department question but I understand there's been some recent staff time that's been devoted to the fire station despite not really having a full update on the PPE a and some of the other funding kind of questions can you maybe speak to some of that that's been going on

Dave Summersstaffjust yet that my project manager Syed has been working and the architect has kept up with this because as we discussed delays in a project raise costs. So what happened was, you know, we continue with the design of the fire station, and at the same time we're doing the PPEA. And where we're at is, you know, let's see what happens with the PPEA, but in the meantime, the fire station is moving forward in a preliminary design. We'll reach a point where we need to know about the PPEA before we move forward to past 20% or 30% design. We would need to know what's going to happen with the PPA. In the meantime, though, we're not there yet, so we're continuing to work on the design.
