The Asian Festival on Main is an annual outdoor festival in historic downtown Fairfax City celebrating Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander cultures through cuisine, art, music, and dance. It was founded in 2021 when Wendy Wong, co-owner of the Standard Barbershop, approached the Old Town Fairfax Business Association (OTFBA); attendance has grown each year, making it one of the largest Asian festivals in the DMV region.

  • Thank You to Mr. Jeff Greenfield

[1.06] The Labor Day Car Show, associated with Jeff Greenfield, was recognized for donating $5,000 to support school food pantries, providing each school with $1,250 to buy food for students in need.

In full

The event has a notable charitable dimension: over seven years, it has provided thousands of backpacks filled with school supplies to city schools, and most recently donated $5,000 to school food pantries ($1,250 per school), recognized by the School Board at its April 6, 2026 meeting. The event is one of eight third-party events currently supported by the City of Fairfax, five of which involve road closures, and was listed among those reviewed during the City Council's April 7, 2026 work session on third-party event sponsorships. At that session, the Council favored a hybrid of options 2 and 3 for its broader sponsorship approach and directed staff to return with a follow-up at a future Council meeting; no formal vote was taken.

An earlier transcript excerpt from April 1, 2025 references the Labor Day Car Show as one of several smaller events whose city support had been eliminated in a prior cost-reduction review. The event appears to have taken place successfully on Labor Day 2026 (September 7), with a council member offering congratulations at what appears to be a subsequent meeting on September 8, 2026.
