Student Panel

The Student Panel is a recurring annual School Board event in which middle and high school students (grades 7–12) are invited to speak directly with board members about their school experiences.

Mr. Dorsey provided the historical background on the event at the March 17, 2025 work session, where the board reviewed and edited questions from the 2024 panel, identifying topics including grading, buildings, cell phone policy, and course registration. The panel was held on April 21, 2025, facilitated by Chair Pitches, with 13 students participating and discussing grading, facilities, cell phone policies, activities, and school specialties.

The following year, on April 20, 2026, a larger panel of 20 students from KJMS and FHS participated in a facilitated discussion led by Ms. Pitches, covering school experiences, student success, and learning environments — with AI use emerging as a notable topic of member interest in the aftermath. The event appears to be a well-established annual tradition that the board uses to gather student perspectives on district priorities.
