Student Recognition
Student Recognition is a recurring agenda item at City of Fairfax School Board meetings in which the Board formally recognizes students for outstanding achievements at the state or national level.
On January 5, 2026, students were recognized for achievements in Scholastics. On May 4, 2026, students from city schools were recognized for state-level achievements in academics and athletics. On June 1, 2026, the scope expanded further, with students recognized for state-level achievements in academics, athletics, performing arts, and community service.
The recognition segment is typically managed by a designated staff member — Mr. Phillips facilitated the January 5, 2026 ceremony, while Ms. Dorsey facilitated the May 4 and June 1, 2026 ceremonies, as well as an earlier December 2, 2024 ceremony.
Student representatives are asked to come before the dais for photographs during the recognition.
