Consideration of a resolution authorizing the City Manager to sign the standard project agreement with NVTA for NVTA 70% funding for Blenheim Boulevard Multimodal Improvements (SPA 2020-48-2)
1:00:55Stacey Hardy-Chandleri would like to acknowledge all the work that went into a fabulous juneteenth starting with the invitation from mount calvary baptist church i really wish more of the community could support that event because it really is very heartfelt and very meaningful i think is part of fairfax history but also leading into the CELEBRATION, SO MUCH WORK BY THE JUNETEAF COMMITTEE, CONGRATULATIONS TO THE LEGACY OF FREEDOM AWARDEE, THE AMAZING TALENT, THE SPOKEN WORD PERFORMER, BONE CHILLING, AMAZING PERFORMANCE. AND SO I'M ALWAYS IMPRESSED BY THE HARD WORK THAT GOES INTO OUR CITY CELEBRATIONS AND THE ENGAGEMENT our various committees are able to get from the community and beyond to contribute to such an important celebration. So thank you for that experience.
Billy BatesSo I think that the skepticism around that, at least from my perspective, was also about the possibility of using funding that had already been approved for a different project for that, which, as I understood it, we could not. And now, you know, we don't have guarantee of any funding for something like that. But certainly look forward to further conversations about increasing multimodal connectivity. ANYWHO JUST WANT TO ECHO THE PREVIOUS COMMENTS WISHING ALL THE FATHERS IN THE CITY AMONG THE CITY STAFF AND CITY RESIDENTS HAPPY FATHER'S DAY AND ALSO WANT TO WISH ECHO THE COMMENTS WISHING EVERYBODY HAPPY JUNETEENTH AND AGREED YOU KNOW IT'S A VERY BEAUTIFUL VERY POINTENT EVENT ON FRIDAY AND GLAD I WAS ABLE TO BE THERE THANK YOU
Rachel McQuillenThank you. I also want to thank Monica Bachman from NVTA for the briefing on the bus rapid transit action plan and to our staff for their presentations this evening. I also want to briefly recognize a few recent upcoming community events. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend the Juneteenth ceremony last week, but was encouraged to see all the pictures of the participation and attendees and just want to thank all that made the event a success. I was really sad to have to miss that. Looking ahead, summer's a busy time, and if you haven't already done so, please consider signing up for Fairfax City Alert and City Clips on the city's website to stay informed on all the events we have going on coming up this summer. Since I'm also talking
Catherine ReadAll right. So, yes, many thanks for the people, the Juneteenth Committee and our Parks and Recreation Department who put together Juneteenth and Mount Calvary Baptist Church. And I would also like to see us figure out how to engage more with Mount Calvary as well. Fourth of July is coming up, and I just want to give a shout-out to Katie McCammon. people who are seeing that amazing 250th logo that is just the best looking 250th logo ever to be seen in America was designed by our own Katie Mack and I just whenever you see it I want you to remember that that's in house talent and we have got incredibly talented people on our staff but particularly Parks and Recreation know how to throw an event and to market it as well
