Discussion on the Proposed FY26 Budget
0:13Ms. SummerfieldstaffI don't, I can certainly send Council one. I don't have a total. MR. do have ones that I've earmarked as potentially available to defer or yeah defer and then I would say at the beginning of this budget process JC and I worked together to defer the Van Dyke redevelopment project by two years out to FY 28 and that was driven largely by the potential Willard Sherwood project and so the Willard Sherwood facility would change the way that that space is there and a number of other programs so once that project was completed looking at then starting Van Dyke Park so both of those are not running simultaneously and
Thomas Petersoncan I understand that Willard Sherwood project how does that fit into FY 26 and I know there's a beyond but is that part of the opportunity that possibly we have here for some adjustment
Ms. SummerfieldstaffI'm gonna grab Brooke because he has been for the Willard Sherwood?
Brooke HardinstaffSo the request in the FY26 CIP is for $9 million. For Willard Sherwood, this would be year five of the funding, totaling $56 million overall. all we are at about 80% construction drawings at this point so we're still working on what the final number will be at this point the estimates have us tracking below that 56 million that has been included what what we would do is toward the end of this year we would come to council with what's known as a maximum price because this project would be constructed through the construction manager at risk process so we already have the contractor on board he's working with the design team and making recommendations on material choices and value engineering and all those sorts of aspects so at that point the council
Catherine Readokay I think that's that's important thank you and mr. Hardin on the Willard Sherwood Center as far as what we do we do it in collaboration with the county it is a project governed by a contract and an agreement is that correct
Stacy HallExcellent. No one tells you when it's good, but they always tell you when it's bad. Yes. Okay. I think that's my questions on the reductions. So specific on some of the Willard Sherwood questions, the staffing on that, I understand there's a lot of entrances and exits and some other delegation of duties. Can you touch on how many people we think we might need to hire to be able to staff this moving forward?
Okay. And how will the proposed basketball work? How will that gym be used at the proposed Willard Sherwood Center?
Thomas PetersonWell, not for these patient folks, but for some others who are in the audience. I'm wondering if Director Hardin might join us for a moment. And a general question is just, you know, you're at the interface of these really significant and expenditure decisions which carry on and have implications, et cetera. I appreciate everything you shared with us about the Willard Sherwood Center, but I'm wondering in your span, have you been able to identify any areas where either directly through community development or indirectly working with the other programs there's a potential on the CIP side for reductions or beyond that? when you took a look inside the direct and indirect side of this
Brooke Hardinstaffnot necessarily you know we we interact with CIP projects but we are not directly responsible for any CIP projects and community development planning I have personally been involved in Willard Sherwood based upon a request that I participate as a city's representative in that project but it's not something that we do as part of our services and community development planning thank
