Fairfax Academy Update

Fairfax Academy is a specialized program housed at Fairfax High School within Fairfax County Public Schools, offering career and arts-focused education including fashion careers and career experience programming.

The School Board has received periodic updates on the Academy's programs and outcomes at fall work sessions and regular meetings. At the October 2024 work session, Principal Andrea Cook, Career Experience Specialist Amy Hard, and Fashion Careers Instructor Kendall Barry presented an update noting enrollment of over 1,500 students and highlighting upcoming events including a career experience expo and annual winter musical — the most detailed update on record. Updates were also scheduled for October 2025 and October 2026, both presented by Principal Cook (and, per the 2026 agenda, Amy Hard as well), though no minutes or action reports are available for either of those meetings.

No board action has been taken on any of these items; they are informational in nature.
