School renovation projects
The school renovation projects are a multi-building initiative that began taking shape in late 2025, when Acting Superintendent Phillips noted that architects, engineers, and technicians had begun surveying buildings (November 2025).
By February 2026, Superintendent Dr. Wright reported that contracts had been awarded, initial design team work was underway, and next steps included community engagement meetings, site visits to renovated schools, concept design reviews, and a website launch. As of a July 2026 discussion, the financing model under consideration involves bond referendum funding, with prior public communications estimating a need of approximately 20–21 cents on the real estate tax rate to cover bond payments; a proposed 1% revenue measure (projected to yield approximately $13.5 million) was described as potentially offsetting that tax rate increase entirely, meaning no increase to the real estate tax rate may be necessary if the measure passes.
Still open
- Whether the 1% revenue measure will pass, and whether it will fully offset the projected 20–21 cent real estate tax rate increase needed to fund bond payments for the renovations.
- Status and outcomes of the community engagement/listening sessions that were anticipated as of November 2025 and February 2026.
- Status of the concept design reviews and the renovation project website launch referenced in February 2026.
- Whether Dr. Wright has provided further renovation updates beyond the February 2026 overview.
