VDOT Transportation Alternatives Program
The Norman Avenue Sidewalk Feasibility Study is an active transportation infrastructure project in which the city engaged consultant Megan Waring of Kimley-Horn to assess the feasibility of constructing sidewalks along Norman Avenue. Transportation Director Wendy Sanford presented an overview of the study to City Council at a February 18, 2025 work session, covering existing conditions, an evaluation framework for public feedback, and the public engagement plan; no formal action was taken at that session, as the project was described as still early in the process.

Dwight Avenue Improvements
The Dwight Avenue Improvements project involves intersection realignment at the Sager/Roberts/Dwight intersection and construction of new sidewalk, curb, and gutter on the north side of Dwight Avenue between Roberts Road and Orchard Drive. The project was identified as early as December 2024 as a new capital improvement program project representing a substantial new facility or improvement.
