The project was identified in the capital improvement program as a new facility/substantial improvement, as noted in a December 2024 discussion. On May 13, 2025, City Council unanimously adopted Resolution R-25-09, approving submission of the project—alongside 1st/2nd Street Sidewalks and Northfax East-West Roadway—to VDOT for Revenue Sharing Funding. On September 9, 2025, Council unanimously adopted an updated Resolution R-25-27, reaffirming submission of the same three projects to VDOT for Revenue Sharing Funding with an updated application total of up to $10 million.
The project is currently in progress, pending VDOT funding decisions.
