Summary

The Northfax East-West Roadway is a City of Falls Church capital project to construct a new east-west roadway connecting Chain Bridge Road/University Drive Extension to Cambridge Road in the Northfax area. The project has an estimated total cost of approximately $21 million, with roughly half funded by NVTA 70% funds and half by VDOT Revenue Sharing funds. On May 13, 2025, City Council unanimously adopted Resolution R-25-09, endorsing submission of the project (along with 1st/2nd Street Sidewalks and Dwight Avenue Improvements) to VDOT for Revenue Sharing Funding. On September 9, 2025, Council unanimously adopted an updated Resolution R-25-27, revising the application to reflect a combined submission total of up to $10 million in Revenue Sharing Funding across the three projects. The June 23, 2025 Planning Commission meeting confirmed the May endorsement as a staff informational update, with no additional action taken.
