Fairfax Village in the City
Fairfax Village in the City is a volunteer-driven community program affiliated with the National Village to Village Network that supports older adults and adults with disabilities in the City of Fairfax who wish to remain living independently at home.

It provides services such as transportation to medical appointments, light home repairs, yard work, and social programming, while also working to combat social isolation. The organization is governed by an Advisory Board and staffed by a village coordinator (Jason Skadron as of September 2025). By September 2025, the organization reported achieving a 50% increase in both membership and volunteers.
In October 2025, it was highlighted in connection with Mayor Reed's National Family Caregivers Month proclamation, and the organization noted that Virginia's FY2026 budget included $400,000 for pilot programs to reduce social isolation among older Virginians — a grant for which Fairfax Village in the City applied to enhance its volunteer training program. The organization also participates in HHCAB's Home Sharing Strategy Team and has been discussed as a supporting human services program for older adults in a City Council work session (April 7, 2026). Advisory Board members have publicly supported the Willard Sherwood Health and Community Center project in 2026.
