Beacon Landing
Beacon Landing is a 54-unit supportive affordable housing development in the city, developed in partnership by Wesley Housing and the Lamb Center. The Stacy C. Sherwood Community Center at 3740 Blenheim Boulevard is a City of Fairfax facility that has served as a venue for community events and, more significantly, as the anchor site for the broader Willard-Sherwood Health and Community Center project.

The Housing and Homelessness Strategic Plan is a City of Fairfax initiative to develop a comprehensive affordable housing and homelessness strategy, undertaken in partnership with national consulting firm Thomas P. Miller and Associates (TPMA).

Pat Rodio Park
Pat Rodio Park is a municipal park that has been undergoing a playground relocation and broader redevelopment effort. As of October 2024, staff identified that the playground needed to be moved to a new location; by November 2024, a relocation site had been identified and public outreach was planned.

Van Dyck Redevelopment
The Van Dyck Redevelopment is a funded parks project in the Town of Vienna that has been tracked by the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board (PRAB) since at least October 2024. The project was initially placed on hold pending the start of Thaiss Park construction, and by February 2025 its construction start was pushed to FY28 to avoid concurrent work with the Blenheim Boulevard and Willard Sherwood Center projects.

KJM Turf
The KJM Turf project involves the renovation and turfing of fields associated with KJM Middle School, a effort that has been in development for at least 10 years. As of the May 2025 joint PRAB/School Board meeting, the current plan — developed with consultant Timmons — estimates a total cost of approximately $10 million and encompasses two turf fields, a track, and a paved area, with a projected construction timeline of 16–18 months (potentially shorter if synthetic turf is selected). $6 million in funding has been identified ($4 million already allocated plus $2 million in ARPA funds), leaving a gap of $6–8 million.

At the city-wide level, a 2023 strategic plan framework was in place, and a proposal for a new city-wide strategic plan was presented to Mayor and Council at the January 10, 2026 City Council Retreat by Assistant City Manager Melanie Zipp; Council provided feedback on direction, public role, scope, governance, equity, engagement expectations, and strategic priorities and budget, but took no formal action. A prior Strategic Plan update was also scheduled at the April 5, 2025 City Council Retreat, but no outcome was recorded.
Separately, the city's Affordable Housing Strategic Plan, developed by consultant TPMA, was presented to Mayor and Council in November 2025 and formally adopted in February 2026; it is now being used as a guiding document for Housing Trust Fund guidelines and affordable housing development decisions. The Fairfax County Office to Prevent and End Homelessness (OPEH) is also engaged in a two-phase strategic planning process, with community engagement (Phase 1) completed in March 2026 and Phase 2 (data analysis and recommendations to the Board of Supervisors) underway. The FCPS Strategic Plan 2023–2030 has been regularly reported on in school board meetings, with the most recent progress update presented in March 2026.
A city-wide performance management process, described as a tiered system, was referenced in September 2026 as expected to begin development in the latter part of 2026 and carry into 2027.
