In full
In April 2025, the School Board approved a reallocation of CIP funds to complete a vestibule security project at DRES, contingent on FCPS approval for the City to reimburse FCPS for executing the work. On September 9, 2025, the City Council unanimously approved (as part of the consent agenda) a professional services contract for Architectural Design, Engineering, and Construction Management Services awarded to Moseley, Incorporated for DRES, with combined FY2026 expenses for both school projects not to exceed $3,000,000. By late 2025, the school held a community meeting on upcoming renovations, and Moseley's team entered the conceptual design phase.
In April 2026, the School Board held dedicated work sessions to review design concepts, costs, and considerations for DRES and Providence, with the key decision being which design concept to select for each school. A community meeting on DRES renovations was scheduled for April 15, 2026.
Separately, the school has remained active with student programming, PTA events, and academic initiatives throughout this period, and a 1% local sales tax referendum on the November 2026 ballot — relevant to school funding — was the subject of a community town hall held at DRES in October 2026.
