The Jermantown Road Corridor Improvements is an active City of Fairfax transportation capital improvement project focused on safety and infrastructure upgrades along the Jermantown Road corridor. The project first came to the City Council's attention in connection with the George Snyder Trail discussion in March 2025, when Councilmember Hall requested that more information on the Jermantown Road CIP improvements be brought to a future meeting.

The City of Fairfax's Solid Waste Management Plan (SWMP) 5-Year Update is a long-term planning document covering a twenty-year horizon, required by state code to be updated every five years; the previous update was completed in 2021. Most significantly, a multimodal transportation improvement project along Jermantown Road between I-66 and Route 50 has been in progress; the project was adopted into the 2018 Two Year Transportation Program and has been NVTA-funded since 2023. A staff update was presented to City Council in a work session on October 7, 2025, and a public hearing was held on December 9, 2025, at which multiple residents spoke both in support of safety improvements and in opposition — no council action was taken at that hearing, and staff was directed to follow up with resident Thomas Summakie regarding his concerns.

Separately, 3801 Jermantown Road is the address of Katherine Johnson Middle School Library, which hosted a public meeting on November 20, 2025. Additionally, 3850 Jermantown Road is the location of Nova Labs Inc., which is the subject of a proposed charitable real estate tax exemption ordinance that was discussed in a City Council work session on October 13, 2026, without a vote. Dr.

Wright also noted in an April 2026 School Board meeting that he had toured INOVA labs on Jermantown Road and that early-stage partnerships with city schools are forming.
