The project first came to the City Council's attention in connection with the George Snyder Trail discussion in March 2025, when Councilmember Hall requested that more information on the Jermantown Road CIP improvements be brought to a future meeting. Staff provided a formal project update at the October 7, 2025 City Council Work Session, and the Planning Commission's staff report dated October 13, 2025 confirmed that briefing had occurred. As of December 9, 2025, the project is at 60% intermediate design; a public hearing was held at the City Council meeting that evening, drawing both supporters of the safety improvements and opponents from the community.
No formal council action has been taken at any stage; the project team is directed to modify plans as appropriate and proceed to final design and right-of-way acquisition. City staff also committed to following up individually with resident Thomas Summakie regarding concerns he raised at the public hearing.
